Kevin flexibly draws from a number of evidence-based interventions including Emotion focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He often draws from a number of other interventions including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Self-Compassion.

He has pursued these interests through his research at McGill University and the University of Toronto focusing on chronic pain, relationships between personality and substance use behaviours, and how these influence treatment.
