Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based therapy and has had a significant impact on the field of psychotherapy based on extensive research on client in-session processes that facilitate positive outcomes. EFT is also transdiagnostic psychotherapeutic approach as its interventions and principles can be adapted across different client populations and a variety of client issues. It has evolved into a comprehensive theory of functioning and clinical practice and focuses on working with a client's core underlying, painful emotions to transform emotional pain and suffering and promote enduring change.


This training is for licensed mental health professionals (example: psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers). Students with therapy training and pre-licensed therapists are welcome. No prior knowledge of Emotion Focused Therapy is required.     This intensive four-day EFT Training Institute is designed to continue the development of emotion-focused skills for individual therapy. Participants receive in-depth skills training through a combination of brief lectures, discussing video demonstrations, case discussions, and extensive supervised role-playing experiential practice as both client and therapist in small break out groups. Instruction focuses on the markers of advanced self-interruption, anxiety, vulnerability, self-soothing, and advanced unfinished business interventions. In addition, advanced emotion assessment, emotional productivity will be discussed. Level two focuses on case formulation.  Please note, participation for the full 4 days is required in order to receive a completion certificate.

The focus of the program will be experiential, learning how to provide a change in core emotional structures. Participants receive in-depth skills training through a combination of brief lectures, discuss videos of therapy sessions, case discussions, and extensive supervised role-playing experiential practice as client and therapist in small break out groups. The phases of treatment will be described and the specific processes that lead to resolution will be discussed.     This intensive introductory 4-day training provides training in an Emotion Focused evidence-based couple therapy developed by Leslie Greenberg and Sue Johnson.  This approach focuses on de-escalating negative cycles, restructuring negative couples interactions into more virtuous ones, and strengthening the emotional bond in couples. You will learn the 5 stages and 14 steps of couples therapy and recent advances to theory and practice made by Greenberg and Goldman that will help you conceptualize and resolve relationship difficulties stemming from both love and power.


    You will learn how to work with emotions of anxiety and sadness, related to threats to attachment security in addition to the emotions of fear, shame and anger related to threats to identity, status or power. In addition, the role of positive emotions such as warmth, love, caring, joy, and excitement are discussed. Furthermore, you will learn about a Forgiveness Treatment Approach related to working with Emotional Injury and issues of Betrayal developed by Greenberg, Warwar, and Malcolm.


    This training is both didactic and experiential, centered on helping you become deeply familiar with the EFT-C model and interventions. You will receive in-depth skill training through a combination of brief lectures, video demonstrations, live modeling, case discussions, and extensive supervised role-playing practice.


    This workshop runs 2 days a week for 2 weeks.


    Participants should have a minimum of professional training in some form of therapy or be an accredited practitioner.

    This advanced experiential and didactic training is designed for EFT-C therapists, supervisors and trainers. You will learn advanced skills to work with challenging issues such as escalated couples as well as in-session blocks, interruptions, and impasses in therapy.  You will learn how to work with complex issues such as trauma, power and dominance.  In addition, you will learn more in-depth about a Forgiveness Treatment Approach developed by Greenberg, Warwar, and Malcolm to help couples resolve emotional injuries and issues of betrayal. In this workshop you will also learn how to incorporate experiential teaching and homework and how to promote positive interactions.  You will also learn how to address issues of physical intimacy in the relationship.


    You will receive in-depth skill training through a combination of brief lectures, video demonstrations, live modeling, case discussions, and extensive supervised role-playing practice. This workshop runs twice a week for two weeks. 


    Prerequisite: Equivalent of EFT-C Level 1

  • Transfer: Full payment will be transferred to a future Emotion Focused Therapy Training Institute. You may transfer your payment to another EFT training institute one time.

  • Transfers: No transfers to another EFT Training Institute

 
The Centre for Psychology and Emotional Health has the right to cancel or reschedule any Emotion Focused Therapy Training Institutes. In the event that the Centre for Psychology and Emotional Health needs to cancel or reschedule an upcoming EFT Training Institute, you will have the option to either receive a full refund, or transfer the full training fee to another available training.
